A little history on Castres Olympique
CO was the only french rugby union club in Tarn competing in the top level Top14 league until Albi moved up from last season. Founded in 1898 by several ex. students of Castres' municipal college (now College Jean Jaures) so they could play their favourite sport (rugby union) and given its current name after the rugby section seperated from the original multisport club to form their own rugby club. The colours were changed from the original yellow and black to the current white, grey and blue. They reached the top flight after only 15 years in existence and have remained there ever since except for a few years during the 80's when they were in the then B section of the 1st division. CO has never left the 1st division since 1921.
